Quick Tips On How To Give Feedback

Posted on November 26th, 2013

  • Do not give people feedback on their personality traits.

  • Be specific, concrete, and nonjudgmental.

  • Ask permission before giving feedback. Sometimes feedback about touchy subjects is accepted more easily if it is offered tentatively.

  • Give only one or two pieces of feedback at a time.

  • Give feedback that also emphasizes the person’s strengths, not just his or her weaknesses.

  • Use a checking question to determine whether feedback was received and how it was accepted.
